Our Kingston orthodontist uses Invisalign to correct minor or extensive misaligned teeth. Invisalign is successful in treating crowded or widely spaced teeth. It is also used for more complex issues, such as overbites, underbites and cross bites.
Your Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible and removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the new set of aligners. Each aligner is individually made for you.
Each new aligner might give you a slight discomfort that is usually described by patients as a feeling of pressure. This is a good sign that Invisalign is working.
The aligners will gradually move your teeth to a new position. How long it takes for Invisalign to reposition your teeth to the final place is determined by the complexity of the case, and what you and your orthodontist have aimed to achieve.
You will need to go in periodically for a few orthodontic appointments in order to check your treatment progress and make sure your teeth are responding to the aligners.
Your co-operation as a patient is critical in achieving the final result. Invisalign aligners must be worn all day, except when brushing, flossing or eating. After each meal, teeth must be brushed prior to re-inserting your aligners to maintain good hygiene.
Irrespective of the simplicity of your case, your treatment is best handled by an orthodontic specialist, who is trained to diagnose and solve any problems which may arise during your treatment.
