Before

Mr M felt that the aesthetics of his front teeth which he considered was not in keeping with his role as a professional man dealing with the public.

Treatment

During the first appointment for Mr M, his teeth were numbed and shaped to allow the ceramic crowns to fit onto this preparation. Then an impression of the preparation for both the top and lower jaws was made, paying particular attention to the margins i.e. where the crowns will meet the gumline.
Once this was completed the impressions were sent to an outside laboratory for the crowns to be fabricated. In the meantime, around two weeks, Mr M was given a set of temporary crowns, made by us in the dental surgery. These were made to fit in with Mr M’s existing teeth, both in terms of shape and colour.

Finally, at the second appointment, the actual crowns were finally placed, checked for fitting and bite. If all is correct, they will be finally cemented in, or if there is a need to ascertain the fit for comfortability when biting they can be temporarily cemented in to allow for any final adjustments. The gaps between the crowns were arranged to allow suitable daily dental flossing.

Sometimes it is necessary to wear temporary crowns for a longer period in order to allow the gums to heal. This ensures that the new crowns meet the gumline in a natural and unnoticeable manner.

End Result

After

In this case, treatment continues with a good regular programme of daily oral hygiene. Mr M needs to brush his teeth for at least two minutes, twice a day, and floss daily. With such a routine Mr M can expect to keep his new teeth and confident smile for many years to come.
