Orthodontic Treatment Case Study
Deep bite & Cross bite causing problematic relationship between upper and lower jaw
Treatment Type: Ceramic braces

Background
Mr. A presented with both a deep bite and a crossbite, which created a challenging relationship between the upper and lower teeth. In addition, he experienced severe dental crowding that required correction to prevent future complications. At the age of 32, Mr. A made the decision to undergo orthodontic treatment.
Treatment Plan
No extractions were necessary. Mr. A was fitted with a clear ceramic brace on the upper teeth and a metal expander on the lower teeth. The treatment duration was 2 years and 5 months.
Note: Had this treatment been undertaken during childhood, natural growth could have been utilised to reduce the overall treatment time.
The lower jaw metal expander was used to reposition and upright inwardly tipped teeth. Additionally, it allowed the lower teeth to be gently widened and flared to better align with the upper arch. The primary goal of this device was to harmonise the upper and lower jaws, creating a functional bite and setting the foundation for a confident, attractive smile.
Outcome
Throughout the course of treatment, Mr. A was advised to maintain excellent oral hygiene, especially due to the presence of the lower expander. This appliance can trap food particles and debris, making regular cleaning essential to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. With consistent care and a well-executed treatment plan, Mr. A achieved a healthy, aligned bite and an improved smile.
